When your mission spans the globe, but your budget doesn’t, how do you tell the full story?
For Nashville-based nonprofit Soles4Souls, that challenge was real. Their work reaches far beyond a single community: helping struggling youth show up to school with proper shoes and dignity, delivering shoes and relief in crisis zones around the world, empowering entrepreneurs in developing economies through shoe purveying, and diverting shoes and textile waste from landfills. Four pillars. One far-reaching story.
We needed an efficient yet impactful well to tell Sole4Soul’s story.
We placed a single pair of shoes as the AI film’s protagonist, travelling through the different worlds and ways Soles4Souls touches communities. Capturing school hallways, disaster zones, and bustling Honduran markets live would require a global production, and a global-sized budget, not to mention anthropomorphising a pair of shoes practically in camera.
AI made it possible.
Only though AI-driven visual generation could we build richly detailed environments and expressive performances with a nonprofit budget. We brought the shoes to life with personality and emotion: from tentative steps of a shy child to the confident stride of someone whose life has been transformed. AI brought the film to 95% completion, with artists refining the final details of the cities, communities, people, environments, sound design, and voiceover.
The result: a story that moved seamlessly across continents, communities, and lives, and demonstrated how Soles4Souls positively impacts people around the world.
