In a highly competitive ski market that’s increasingly dominated by multi-resort passes and a focus on luxury amenities, Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) is an outlier.
With no hotels, no trendy shops, and no 5-star restaurants anywhere to be found, the experience of skiing A-Basin is almost like going back in time. While that’s exactly why some people love it, it’s also a threat to the mountain’s long-term popularity, as more and more, the luxurious resort-style amenities become an expectation for those looking to spend a day on the slopes. But A-Basin has no plans to change who they are. So rather than try to hide what A-Basin “lacks,” we decided to do the opposite and celebrate the lack of “B.S.” that would otherwise get in the way of all the great skiing at A-Basin.
A-Basin offers an authentic, no-frills alternative for dedicated skiers who head to the slopes prioritizing one thing and one thing only: the skiing. So we developed an uncompromising campaign: "No B.S. Just Skiing." which elevates A-Basin’s greatest assets (adventurous, challenging terrain) by highlighting all of the bells and whistles that you don’t have to worry about getting in your way when you’re here. Suddenly, A-Basin’s lack of unnecessary distractions become a core value proposition.
The campaign was brought to life in creative executions that spanned several media channels, including video, social, digital, print, and outdoor. Three targeted video spots (Boutiques, Spa, and VIP Lines) delivered sharp, playful commentary, directly contrasting A-Basin’s authentic experience with the manufactured feel of luxury resort offerings and successfully positioning A-Basin as the superior choice for skiers who prioritize mountain experience over expensive, unnecessary fanfare.
