Spur is a nonprofit based in Sun Valley, Idaho, focused on fostering community growth and well-being through philanthropy and collaboration. They connect donors and local nonprofits to support initiatives that address the Wood River Valley’s most pressing challenges. Spur approached Stoltz to help name, brand, and help launch a campaign to raise awareness around the importance of charitable giving in the Wood River Valley. 


Nature, arts, and culture are the main qualities that draw people to the Wood River Valley — but they stay for the unique sense of community that sets it apart from other mountain towns.

Nonprofits are behind much of what creates a strong sense of community in the Wood River Valley, making it a magical place to live. The more people are connected to and care about the community, the more likely they are to give. 

However, there was a disconnect between full-time and part-time residents, leading to a lack of empathy and understanding within the community. Many view each other as "others," creating barriers to generosity and community involvement. The challenge was to shift this mindset and inspire residents to recognize the importance of supporting nonprofits.

 


Stoltz was asked to create not only a brand and campaign, but a movement, that highlights the vital role of nonprofits in making the Wood River Valley thrive, encouraging residents to connect, get involved or donate, and foster a stronger community spirit by supporting nonprofits in the area.

"It's in our nature" is rooted in generosity and a shared love for outdoor spaces. Giving back is first nature in the Wood River Valley, whether it’s keeping people housed or growing community gardens. The Stoltz team created a brand, vibrant color pallet, flexible visual system, and strong messaging that inspires a continued collective momentum toward giving.

The campaign launched in August 2024 and has been widely adopted by stakeholders and non-profits in the Wood River Valley. As they collectively use the brand assets and tool kit for amplifying the message, we look forward to seeing "It's in our nature" grow generosity throughout the Wood River Valley!
 


Resources were limited and Stoltz was challenged with creating a brand that could represent all of the nonprofits in the valley, unite a variety of stakeholders, and creatively use existing photo and video asset libraries.
